Road crew making improper moves-Initial Terminal with Yard Crews On Duty – GCA Claim Code 16

I was on duty at Ft. Worth on the MFWSW-16 at 0900hrs 05/20/02 and required to make an improper move within the terminal limits of Ft.Worth, TX (TP250) with yard crews employed and on duty. Move is detailed below. Please allow a basic day’s penalty at current yard rate of pay.

After taking charge of train in yd1 trk302 at 1000hrs, we were advised that tank car ACFX20054 was first out on our train and, per UPRR Form 8260, it could not ride nearer than six (6) cars behind the engine. Per instructions Crest Yardmaster Smith, we came off with the head six cars (see attached list) and switched cars, using tracks 302 and 303, to reposition ACFX20054 from first out to sixth out in our train. Move completed at 1040hrs.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR SUCCESSFUL ADJUDICATION

  1. Copies of transaction log (ZB-insert circ7-insert board ID-T-E-; ; ;-insert date mmdd) or board standings (ZB-insert circ7-insert board ID) showing you on duty on MFWSW-16.
  2. Copy of train list showing the car improperly placed. Note: If the Yardmaster has already ‘pickled’ the car to it’s rightful place prior to your receiving your paperwork, then make a notation on the list you have of where the car/s were actually located in your train upon your taking charge and both you and your conductor and/or a Carrier Officer sign it.
  3. Copy of train list showing car/s after repositioning.
  4. Copy of yard crews (ZB-insert circ7-insert board ID) that were on duty during the timeframe involved in your making this move. (Without this documentation the claim is questionable!)

OPTIONAL DOCUMENTATION OFFERING A BETTER CHANCE AT SUCCESS

  1. Copy of the train placement instructions in Form 8260 that necessitated the repositioning of the ACFX20054.
